GFPT
Prior to attempting your GFPT flight test you will have to pass three short multi choice exams. The first of these tests is the “first solo exam”, and must be completed prior to your first solo flight. Shortly after you will do the “Area Solo Exam”, which is to be completed prior to your first solo flight into the Moorabbin Training Area .Prior to attempting the GFPT flight test is the “Basic Aeronautical Knowledge” exam (BAK) covering a range of topics incorporating aerodynamics, radio procedures, emergency procedures, air law, and aircraft systems.
PPL
Prior to attempting the Private Pilot Flight test, a further exam is required. This exam is set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and can be completed at the flying school. Once again it is a multi choice exam requiring a 70 percent pass mark. This is a longer exam and is of 3 ½ hours duration. This exam incorporates a variety of topics drawn from navigation, air law, human factors, aircraft performance, meteorology, aerodynamics, and aircraft systems.
This course is offered through a series of classroom lectures, or by utilizing our self study course at you own pace. Our comprehensive library of practice exams is available to ensure a high pass is achieved on your first attempt. Our staff are readily available to provide guidance and assistance as required.
CPL
The Commercial Pilot Licence exams are divided into seven separate exams
Air Law
Navigation
Meteorology
Human Factors
Performance and Planning
Aerodynamics
Aircraft Systems
All exams require a 70 percent pass except Air Law requiring 80 %, and are once again in a multi choice format. These exams must be sat at the local CASA approved testing centre. Students can choose to study via our in house course or alternatively use our thorough self study course. Which ever alternative you decide on you will be given comprehensive support through our instructional staff, supported by a well stocked aviation library of practice exams and reference texts.
IREX
The theory for the challenging Instrument Rating Exam is something we particularly pride ourselves on at MFT. Rather than teaching you to simply pass this exam, we will ensure you have a complete understanding of the theoretical, and practical applications of this most important subjects. The course will involve scenario type training, comprehensive practice exams with clearly explained answers. At MFT this subject is delivered by industry working Airline Pilots.
